BidWayUSA started in 2003 as a spin-off of Tampa Surplus, inc. an electronics redistribution company I owned. BidWayUSA and BidWayGlobal were trade names for Bid Factory, LLC and the Canadian entity Bidway, Inc.. BidWayUSA was an eBay franchise I founded when eBay consignment was just getting started. BidWayUSA was first to market in the Tampa Bay area and the first franchise to grow internationally to three countries; the US, Canada and the United Kingdom. We sold the UK territory to a Scottish proprietor opening his first store in Glasgow Scotland. The stores were an immediate success and attracted the attention of another local publicly traded Tampa-based franchise called The Online Outpost. The Online Outpost, now Growth Technologies, acquired BidWayUSA and BidWayGlobal in November of 2005, where I became the Vice President of International Franchise Development expanding the UK brand. I eventually sold my share of the company and moved on to practice Commercial Real Estate for Coldwell Banker Commercial.
