Computer Needs, Inc. started as a side business in 1997. I fixed computers and small business networks. In 2001, I left my position as Director of Systems Integration for Eckerd Corporation and opened my first office, hired a single PC technician and partnered up with a database Engineer Jason Wyse. Jason stayed with the company for the first year and left to pursue his own opportunities. Computer Needs specialized in systems integration, network engineering, database design, Web design and managed services. Computer Needs grossed over $400,000 in revenue in the first twelve months and quickly grew over the next few years. The first major client was Raytheon Aircraft Services based at the Tampa International Airport. Raytheon had a new customer service initiative that required a touch-screen kiosk in each airport around the globe (at that point over 90 airports). Computer Needs designed and built a working prototype for the Tampa airport location and successfully negotiated to manufacture and support a kiosk in each airport.
Computer Needs later became the required vendor for BidWayUSA, an International eBay consignment franchise and our sister company. Computer Needs provided the initial point of sale systems, network and remote access support to keep the stores running. We also supported BidWay Consignment Systems (BCS), a co-branded eBay consignment program that integrated with eBay's API allow us to streamline BidWay's processes for posting items on eBay.
With the acquisition of BidWayUSA and BidWayGlobal came an unrelated offer from a larger Tampa-based technology firm. Computer Needs, Inc. was sold in an assets-only sale in early 2006. The staff at Computer Needs was first class. We had lots of fun and enjoyed servicing our client base every day.
